Additional details about the SH130 Corridor Summit:
The purpose of the SH 130 Corridor Summit is to facilitate an open discussion of the critical issues Central Texas leaders and citizens will need to address to ensure the optimum and most desirable development of the corridor. While considering the entire length of SH 130, the Summit will focus on the Segments 1 through 4 between Georgetown and US 183 (near Mustang Ridge) where the planning challenges are most immediate.
The Greater Austin-San Antonio Corridor Council has been involved with the development of SH 130 since its inception. More recently, Envision Central Texas has been working to address how Central Texas is going to accommodate another million people over the next 20-40 years while at the same time preserving and enhancing our quality of life, natural resources, and economic prosperity. The leadership of these two organizations believes that thoughtful development along SH 130 is critical to addressing these goals.
The Summit will include a report on the "state of the corridor", a roundtable discussion of elected officials, a roundtable discussion of private-sector stakeholders and a "town hall" session with audience members asking questions and sharing their views of the Corridor. The keynote speaker will be Robert J. Grow, founding chair emeritus of Envision Utah, a public/private quality growth partnership funded in 1997. He will discuss strategies that have been used in similar multi-jurisdictional projects in other parts of the country. The moderator of the event will be Tom Spencer of KLRU. The event will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
